-The English Roses by Madonna- A girl is so pretty that a group of girls do not like her. The girls are given a chance to see how it is to be in the pretty girls position. The group of gilrs learn their lesson.

-The Farolitos of Christmas by Rudolfo Anaya- A little girl wants pastores to sing in front of her house but that might not happen that christmas. It is up to her to figure out another way to light the path for the pastores.

-Mosquito by Jill Bailey- Disturbing and interesting information about the insect that creates alot havoc.

-Butterflies and Moths by George S. Fichter- The differences and similarities of butterflies and Moths are given in this book.

-Starfish by Edith Thacher Hurd- Great information about starfish! Information about what they eat? How eats them? Types of starfish?

Realistic Ficiton

-The Mircle Boys by Jacqueline Woodson: Three brothers are struggling against pretty large odds, but "brother to brother to brother," they can survive.

-The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner: The story of four children who find an abandon boxcar to live in. The children live off the land and their older brothers income when gets a job.

-Hatchet by Gary Paulsen: A thirteen year old boy is stranded in Canadian wilderness after his plane crashes. The boy has only his ragged clothes, hatchet, and a survival kit.

-My side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George: A boy named Sam runs away from his home in New York City and lives in the wilderness. There in the wilderness he makes a home in a tree and finds things to eat. Same then makes finds a peregain falcon which he makes his friend.

-The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton: A story narrated by the main character Ponyboy Curtis. Ponyboy and his brothers are alone because their parents died in a car accident. The boys must live on their own and provide for themselves. They are also called Greasers and they fued with the Soc's. A faintful event occurs in the story which will change their lives forever.  

Science Fiction

-Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix: A boy is the third child in a world that doesn't allow more than two children. His punishment for being the third child is to be hidden.

-The Music of Dolphins by Karen Hesse- After rescuing an adolescent girl from the sea, researchers learn she has beenraised by dolphins and attempt to rehabilitate her to the human world.

 -A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle- A story about a stranger that comes into the lives of a family. This is a stranger not from this world but from where. 

Folktales

-The Three Little Pigs by Margaret Hillert- An easy to read story about the three little pigs and a starving wolf.

-A Day's Work by Eve Bunting- A young Mexican American tries to help his grandfather in finding a job. The boy learns a valuable lesson about being honest.

-Pecos Bill by Steven Kellogg: A cowboy in the old west does unbelieveable things.

-African Folktales (Pantheon Fairy Tale & Folklore) by Roger Abrahams: A collection of african folktales.  
 
-The Thirsty Moose by David Omre: Big Moose is so thirsty that he drinks up all the water in the river. How will the animals that live in the river react? Based on a Native American folktale, this story reinforces the important principle of respecting others.
 
-Little Red Riding Hood retold by Trina Schart Hyman: is a famous fairytale about a young girl's encounter with a wolf.
 
-Rumpelstiltskin by Paul O. Zelinsky: A story about this girl and creepy little man who wants to take her first born because he spun straw into gold. The father caused the whole ordeal. 
 
-Jack and the Beanstalk by Steven Kellogg: A story about a poor boy named Jack, beanstalk, and gaint. Jack steals two golden eggs from the gaint so there is problems.
 
-Paul Bunyan by Steven Kellog: Who was the largest baby ever born in the state of Maine? Who dug the Great Lakes? Who gouged out the Grand Canyon? Why, Paul Bunyan, of course, America's finest, fastest, funniest lumberman and favorite tall-tale hero.
 
-Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Jan Brett: The story tells of three anthropomorphic bears and their encounter with a young girl called Goldilocks
 
-Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs by Jacob Grimm: pursued by a jealous queen, hides with the Dwarfs; the queen feeds her a poison apple, but Prince Charming awakens her with a kiss.

Fantasy

-The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis-Four English school children enter the magic land of Narnia through the back of a wardrobe and assist Aslan, the golden lion, in defeating the White Witch who has cursed the land with eternal winter.

-James and the Giant Peach by Roland Dahl: A boy drops a crystal by a peach tree and a peach of the tree begans to grow. Their are gaint grasshoppers, centipedes and earthworms inside which he discovers when he crawls in. The peach falls of the tree and then it begins.

-Alice's adventures in Wonderland by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson: the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit-hole into a fantastic realm populated by grotesque figures like talking playing cards and anthropomorphic creatures.

-Stuart Little by E.B. White: A story about an adopted little mouse who seems to always get in trouble. 

Poetry and Verse

-Sawgrass Poems a view of the everglades by Frank Asch- The poems in the book are about the the natural beauty of the everglades.

-OUTside INside Poems by Arnold Adoff- This is a unique word picture about a young boy and his feelings about becoming a baseball star.

-Daddy Poems by John Micklos, Jr- This is a collection of poems dedicated to fathers.

 Historical Fiction

-The Whipping Boy by Sid Fleischman- An adventurous story about an Orphan and Prince.

-Tales of the South Pacific by James A. Michener: The stories were based on observations and anecdotes he acquired while stationed as a lieutenant commander in the US Navy on the island of Espiritu Santo in the New Hebrides Islands (now known as Vanuatu).

-Barefoot: Escape on the Underground Railroad by Pamela Edwards: In the forest, a group of animals help a runaway slave escape his pursuers.

-Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse: In a series of poems, fifteen-year-old Billie Jo relates the hardships of living on her family's wheat farm in Oklahoma during the dust bowl years of the Depression.

-Hiroshima by Laurence Yep: Describes the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan, particularly as it affects Sachi, who becomes one of the Hiroshima Maidens.

-The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain: Tom Sawyer, a mischievous black haired orphan taken in by his Aunt Polly, goes through a series of adventures involving his friends, Joe Harper and Huckleberry Finn. Tom is an escape master, and a professional trickster. He escapes punishment many times by his tricks.
